My wife and I returned from an RV trip through New England when we stopped at the New River Gorge in West Virginia. The sky was overcast, and the fall colors hadn’t quite come in yet, but we walked down to the river to watch the swift current. A lone kayaker worked through the rapids, and one section of the river caught my eye. I set up my camera with a long lens on a tripod and took only a couple of long exposures (to show movement). Back home, I was pleasantly surprised by the image—the blue of the water blending with a faint golden hue from the sun, just before it dipped below the horizon.

Jeff has been captivated by the power of photography ever since he traded a gun for his first camera. That moment marked the beginning of a lifelong journey in image-making—one that eventually led him to earn a BA in Art from Transylvania University in 1981 and fully embrace photography as his primary medium of expression. Since 1988, he’s created award-winning imagery for the advertising and corporate world, with his work appearing regularly in publications. While he has completed countless assignments for clients over the years, nothing brings him greater personal satisfaction than exploring the beauty and serenity of landscape photography.

To date, he has published eight successful coffee table books, each featuring his photography.
