It is part of a 7-piece collection, Stillness in Motion, based on a theme inspired by resting in the overwhelm of life. It started with a simple question: What if I let one layer of paint dry at a time, before moving on to the next? 

In a world that rushes forward, this painting serves as a gentle rebellion, created through slow, intentional layers of translucent color that drift and dissolve like fleeting moments of stillness. Each brushstroke is unhurried, allowing the paint to move organically, mirroring the soul’s need for pause amid chaos.

Meet the Artist:

Brooke Harris is an abstract artist who calls Lexington, Kentucky home. While she received a B.A. in Journalism at Asbury University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Spalding University, she loves using the paintbrush to express language and ideas. She uses acrylic paint to create abstract scenes of time and space. Her work has been showcased in exhibits here in Kentucky and regionally, including the Kentucky State Capitol.
